Leave Me Alone

February 10, 2025

“What is mankind that you make so much of them, that you give them so much attention, 18 that you examine them every morning and test them every moment? 19 Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant? Job 7:17-19

No ordinary man has suffered like Job, but it is because of his great suffering that we are reading about him over 4,000 years later. Otherwise, like most others, he would have died

in obscurity.

Here is a man that feared and loved God.  He was the greatest man in the entire East.  He was not only known for his integrity, but his kindness in word and deed to others.  The God of Heaven said of Job to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”  What a testimonial!

And yet, now Job sits among the ashes, stripped of all of his wealth, the respect of his wife, family and friends, of his ten children, and his health.  He is so hideous looking that his three friends when they see him, from a distance, begin to weep aloud and tear their robes.

Job curses the day he was born and then he asks of the Lord, Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant? The answer is “No.” Even though Satan incited God against him He knew Job from the inside out. God had great confidence in Job! Not only would Job pass the test with flying colors, but he would come to know his God as never before.

The Lord was thinking of us too when He allowed Satan to harm Job.  God knew that we, and others through the ages, would be able to gain understanding and comfort from Job’s test.

Remember that every thought and action of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit revolves around you.  You are His most precious possession.  At times we get tired of the constant tests and trials, but He will not let up.  He loves you too much, and He has a plan too great to falter. He knows you inside out and will never test you beyond what you are -able to bear!
