Here Kitty Kitty

October 13, 2023 When I was a kid, my mom had a dream about being at one of my dad’s relatives’ houses. She was standing in the front yard and there was a huge ugly snake on the lawn. She immediately sensed great danger. I don't remember how but she was able to get past it and went into the house. The relatives were sitting in a circle facing each other. There was a kitten walking from lap to lap. My mom said she looked at the kitten and it had the cutest face she had ever seen but she knew it was that huge ugly snake. As the kitten went from lap to lap each person would stroke it fondly, not realizing the grave danger they were in

After putting him to sleep on her lap, she called for someone to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him. And his strength left him. Then she called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him. Judges 16

The interesting thing about my dad’s relatives in the dream was that they were all Christians. I remember one person who went to church because she loved to sing. She looked the part but was living a double life. She had a sad ending. A sinner who goes to church is not in danger. Well, except for the danger of being saved. Scary! :) A person who is pretending to be a Christian, especially when in ministry, is standing on the precipice of hell.

Sin has a strong allure just like Delilah because it satisfies the flesh. Can a man take fire to his bosom, And his clothes not be burned? Can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be seared? Proverbs 6:27-28

Samson shouldn’t have played in the enemies’ territory. There was great peril there.

Samson was a man of great strength but when he laid his head in Delilah’s lap, he was no match for her cunning. Because of it, he became an ordinary man. How did he end up there? He had become presumptuous thinking he was immune to the effects of sin. God had his hand on him. I mean it was obvious! He was God’s chosen man of the hour. There was nothing to fear. I can picture Delilah running her fingers through his hair. Speaking words of endearment or perhaps softly singing songs about his great exploits until she lulled him to sleep.

Saints don’t pet the kitten or play in the enemy’s territory. It probably won’t end well. If you're a sinner get out!--LG

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13
